Organizing

The ATU in Canada is the largest transit union representing over 30,000 Public Transit, Para-Transit, Inter-City and School Bus workers across Canada. The ATU is committed to improving the working conditions and the quality of life for all of its membership through education, training and lobbying. Our locals are recognized for their community involvement, effective collective bargaining and membership representation.

Here you will find two videos on Organizing. If you are interested in organizing your workplace, please feel free to get in touch with the ATU Canada office by either phone or email and we will answer any questions or concerns that you might have.

Organizing Riders, Community and Political Alliances

Following the International’s lead Canadian Council Affiliates are encouraged to partner with rider’s groups and community organizations to advocate for improved transit and on social justice issues. Many of our affiliates have already undertaken this effort but if yours has not please consult the list of organizations to see if there’s a group in your city or region to work with. This list is by no means complete so if you have any suggestions for additions please let us know. If you need assistance with organizing efforts please contact us here at the Council.
